This series of 4 classes Tuesdays 6-8 starting Nov 8, 2022 deepens your practice of meditation with the teachings of Nobel Peace Prize Nominee, zen master Thich Nhat Hanh.
This four session series of experiential classes will be offered in person on Tuesday evenings 6-8 pm starting November 8, 2022. The meeting location will be at Ottawa River Integrative Mental Health meditation studio at 201 McLeod St in Centretown Ottawa.
About your teachers:
Dr. Andre Vellino, co-founder of the University of Ottawa Academy of Mindfulness and Contemplative Practice and recognized dharma teacher in the Rinzai Zen tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh. Dr. Vellino has been practicing meditation for over 40 years and is part of a global community of teachers developing a web resource of Thich Nhat Hanh’s teachings on meditation.
Dr. Kimberly Sogge CPsych is an International Mindfulness Teachers Association certified professional mindfulness teacher, psychologist, and a practitioner of Buddhism.
University of Ottawa Professor Dr. Vellino, assisted by Dr. Sogge, will guide students in deepening their practice through guided meditations, reflective inquiry, and instruction from the Plum Village Rinzai Zen tradition and the writings of zen master Thich Nhat Hanh.
About the series:
These classes are designed to assist students in understanding the deeper teachings underlying modern secular mindfulness practice, and how to cultivate a sustainable meditation practice that suffuses mindfulness in all aspects of everyday life.
Included in the series:
A daylong meditation retreat guided by Dr Vellino and Dr Sogge will be offered on the Sunday December 4, 2022 with both in person (201 McLeod) and virtual options.
Class Size Limits & Virtual Option:
This in person course will be limited to 12. If there is sufficient interest there may be the option of participating in the course virtually.
