FREE ON-LINE WEBINAR: ACT for Eating Disorders: A Practical Overview for Clinicians with Dr. Mallory Frayn, PhD, Clinical Psychologist and Founder of Impulse Psychology.
Eating disorders are one of the more prevalent mental health concerns of our time, particularly in a world where weight loss and diet culture reign supreme. Behavioural treatments have shown to be efficacious in transdiagnostically addressing concerns from Anorexia Nervosa to Binge Eating Disorder, however, a large proportion of individuals still do not respond to treatment. Third wave modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) have been proposed to increase efficacy of eating disorder treatment, incorporating more emotionally relevant content into therapy, in addition to the behavioural focus on changing eating patterns. Dr. Frayn’s talk will review some of the initial evidence that supports the efficacy of these approaches, while exploring what these interventions look like and how they can be incorporated into base behavioural treatment for eating disorders.
